The Things My Mother Never Listened To Me About…….

Things I always knew but now found medical research to support my beliefs!

1. SUGAR -- Sugar feeds cancer! Did you know that when a patient undergoes a PET Scan they are injected with sugar water. The sugar finds the cancer. One can of coke has the equivalent of 15 packets of sugar.

2. Salad dressings including diet salad dressing are loaded with sugar! Read the label better yet choose olive oil and vinegar.

3. Limit your intake of Red Meat. Do not eat meat/chicken unless it is grass fed and/or hormone free.

4. Learn to love Green Tea! Drink 4 -- 6 cups of green tea a day. If you don't like green tea you can purchase Green Tea pills or liquid green tea extract.

5. Eat lots of organic veggies and fruit. Eat your greens!

6. Garlic, onion and leeks are excellent foods!

7. Eat berries. If berries are not in season there are many excellent frozen berries available.

8. Eat organic fruit and veggies as much as possible. Make sure you wash prewashed lettuce.

9. BPA - I have read many reports and asked several Dr.'s about the issue of plastic safety. It is best not to ever heat up food in plastic containers. If possible use glass containers to store food. That's right -- time to get rid of all the reused containers from the grocery store. Next time you purchase prepared food at grocery store ask them to use the paper containers from the salad bar.

10. Invest in a water bottle that is listed as safe of BPA's.

11. Can goods are lined with plastic inside the can. Use organic can goods -- they are better for you and are not lined with plastic.

12. Cell Phones -- It is well documented that the radiation from cell phones affect brain cells. Use a head set or blue tooth. Use the speaker instead of holding the phone to your ear. I also utilize a product called WAVE SHIELD that deflects a great deal of the radiation away from my head. I put the WAVE SHIELD on my cell phone and my house phone. I have purchased many for my family members.

13. Put your alarm clock at least 3 feet away from your head at night.

14. Ask your Dr. about prolonged use of oral contraceptives and estrogen replacement therapy.

15. Balance food intake with exercise. Engage in a variety of exercise. Take a dance class, a yoga class, work out with weights and don't forget to WALK! Best advice I can share -- is get moving.

16. After smoking OBESITY is considered one of the most important preventable causes of cancer.

17. Stay away from processed foods. This solves the problem of eating too many transfats.

18. Have fun and laugh. Stress is very harmful to the body!

I am a student of the mind/ body connection and the dramatic impact it has on an individuals physical, mental and spiritual well being.

I can share my lists of "to do and not to do" BUT the question of who are the people who are able to implement these changes into their lives and Who are the people who "just can't do it?"

This is where I believe the role of alternative mindful work can play a most significant role.

I have found that utilizing psychotherapy with energy work can profoundly help a person release blocks in our physical and energic system and create space for healing.

Stay tuned Nancy's next article will explain more about health and healing.
